Hi, my name is Nancy Faye and I am using this introductory page to let you know how I am using spiritual psychology and spiritual principles to impact my current treatment of clients.  It’s quite different than the way I did therapy prior to 2019.

I’m not talking about religion, although, I appreciate that for some folks having a religious perspective can be quite helpful, and I would never do or say anything contrary to your religious beliefs.

Spiritual principles are truths that are operating whether or not we believe them.  One spiritual principle is that we already are made with everything we need for our success, peace of mind and happiness.  What I used to believe was that we are all moving towards an improved state of mental health.  There is a slight difference.  If we are moving towards mental health, we might have to move… do something, behave in a certain way, etc.  If we have everything we need for our success, peace of mind and happiness, we just need to realize it.  There is a sense of freedom in knowing we are okay. These truths are simple and covered up to our awareness by the complexities of our thinking.

To describe this another way, think about other things in our life that just are.  For example, I don’t have to think about breathing, breathing is automatic.  I don’t have to think about making my heart beat; my heart beats on its own.  I don’t have to think about healing a wound, my body knows how to heal.  In the same way, I have mental health, and if it doesn’t seem that I’m experiencing it, maybe I just need to acknowledge it.

Spiritual principles are like the universal gravitational force.  They are operating all the time, even if we don’t know it.  They just are.  If I don’t want gravity to operate, there’s not much I can do to stop it.  No matter how high I throw a ball, it’s going to come down.  Now when I understand how gravity works, I can use it to my advantage.  Without going into all the scientific information about gravity, in general, we can’t see gravity, but we can see the effects of it.  The same can be said of spiritual principles.  We can’t see them, but we can see the effects of them.

I used to agree with clients when they came in to see me that they needed new skills or techniques to maneuver their way through life.  I had plenty of them and I saw change occur in my clients, but I also saw struggle, self-criticism and doubt.  When clients said they needed fixing, and they often did, we would come up with a strategy to help them fix themselves.  I always believed I was only a catalyst for change.  But what I didn’t understand clear enough was that people are doing the best they can with the understanding they have.  Often that understanding is misunderstanding.  Currently, I point people in the understanding of their well-being and mental health, their natural state.  I also know at a much deeper level, we are all doing the best we can, given our circumstances, our upbringing, as well as our thinking.

I used to say to my clients that I work in collaboration with you to find the answers you are looking for.  I would also let clients know that I understand we are working together only sixty or so minutes a week and there was no way they could share everything that happened in that week, so only those things they feel are important are being shared. Many times clients bring their frustrations and I listen, and try to figure out skills to help them. I also FALSELY believed that digging up their horrible past was a way to heal it!  I no longer believe this and I no longer do this.  It’s not that we don’t have challenging situations, it’s more about trusting your higher thinking, not me, to reveal to you, answers that are best for you.

I currently understand that because we are existing in well-being, if it’s not manifesting, then we should look in the direction of the power of our thinking, which is creating our feelings.  When we have good feelings, our thinking is helpful, when we have bad feelings, we should let those thoughts go.  There is so much to say about thoughts, thinking and the power of the mind. These are the principles we will be pointing to in our time together.

Knowing and understanding that we have personal thinking as well as “higher consciousness” thinking, helps us to live a life of well-being.  Just this principle of understanding thoughts is enough to change your life.
